The Welsh presenter hosts the American version of Simon Cowell's competition, which premieres on Fox next month. Previously announced to anchor the show alongside Nicole Scherzinger, Jones remained as the sole presenter following Scherzinger's promotion to the judging panel.
In an introduction video, Jones recalled his rise to fame in the UK, first as a model and later as a television host.
Describing his job on the upcoming series, the 34-year-old said: "I gel everything together; link it all and make it flow nice and smoothly. Ultimately, on this show, I'm there for the contestants. I'm there for the acts. I'm the shoulder to cry on.
"I'm their friend basically. You know, I'm the one championing these people, which is great, but it can be quite tough."
He continued: "I'm with them from the start and a lot of them don't make it. We've had some pretty distraught people. You can't deny the magnitude of the situation; it's a $5m recording contract.
"We're dealing with a lot of people, who obviously that would make a big difference to their lives. So when they don't go through, they're devastated, and I have to be there to pick up the pieces."
