Welsh presenter Jones made the comparison during an appearance alongside judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, LA Reid and Nicole Scherzinger on today's episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Jones said: "They are fabulous [judges] and I get asked about them all the time. I have come up with a Star Wars analogy of who is who. I've been saying that LA is very similar to R2-D2 because of the beautiful, shiny dome."
Reid responded: "He is the short robot, right? Thank you. You are my favourite host."
Jones went on to compare Scherzinger to Princess Leia ("It's got to be, look at this girl, yum yum") and Cowell to Darth Vader.
At this point Abdul interjected to say: "Wait a minute, I am not Chewbacca!"
Jones replied: "You are next and you're not going to like it. Someone asked me this morning and I made a snap judgement - you are Yoda, the master."
Cowell, however, suggested that Abdul could be an Ewok instead, insisting they are "cute... they are like pets".
"Yoda I will take," she replied. "Chewbacca, hell no."
X Factor kicked off on Fox last week with highlights from the Los Angeles, Miami, Dallas and Seattle auditions, which saw thousands of hopefuls performing for the judges in the hopes of eventually winning the $5 million prize.
Jones added to DeGeneres that his favourite contestant from the auditions so far has been "the adorable" Rachel Crow, the 13-year-old who opened the auditions in Los Angeles: "She's like a Disney creation, she's just so cute."
