It's been an exciting few weeks on The X Factor USA's inaugural season. From the thousands who showed up for their chance to audition to the difficult and emotional Boot Camp process, judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger and LA Reid have certainly had their work cut out for them.
After the Top 32 took turns in front of their category's judge and celebrity guest at Judges' Houses, it's now up to the panellists to decide which four of their eight acts will go through to the live shows.
Who will progress? Keep checking back throughout the evening to find out the latest from tonight's nerve-racking show!
21:58 And that's it! Next Tuesday, the Top 17 will perform live for the first time this season. Should be a good season!
21:53 The Top 16 have been revealed and finalised... or have they? Simon tells Nicole that he thinks he's made a "big mistake" with one of his decisions! So he heads to Sunrise, Florida to see Melanie and invite her to take part in the live shows, after all. She accepts, of course, so we'll be seeing her again. We'll be having a Top 17 this year, it seems!
21:43 I'm a bit heartbroken because there's only one place in the Girls category left and it's down to Rachel Crow and Melanie Amaro - two of my favourite contestants. I'm pretty sure that adorable little Rachel will be the one going home, but either way, it's a loss. However, Simon has totally shocked probably everyone by revealing that Melanie hasn't made it through! WHAT?! That means Rachel will be in Simon's Top 4.
21:34 It's between Stacy Francis and Elaine Gibbs for the final spot in Nicole's Over 30s lineup. Nicole couldn't possibly deliver the news any more slowly, going on and on about the pressures of the business and how she's looking for charisma, blah blah. Out with it! Finally, she reveals that Elaine is headed home and Stacy is her final pick for the category.
21:26 Fighting for the last space in the Groups category are The Anser and The Stereo Hoggz. I thought The Anser were an absolute disaster and The Stereo Hoggz were brilliant, so let's see if Paula is as smart as I am.... And she is! The Stereo Hoggz are in, The Anser are sent packing. Bye, boys!
21:21 Only Marcus Canty and Tim Cifers are left in LA's category and there's just one place left. I'm pretty sure it'll be Marcus, considering how enamoured with him Rihanna was, but let's see. LA had some concerns about where Marcus fit into the "musical landscape", which is ridiculous since he called him the next Bobby Brown even at his first audition. Anyway, Tim's out and Marcus is in, as expected!
21:12 Over in France, Tiah Tolliver and Caitlin Koch are anxious to hear Simon's decision. I've been a massive Tiah fan from the off, so I know who I'm rooting for. Caitlin's sent home and she's in shock - bit arrogant, I think, but whatever. She gets a hug off Steve, so perhaps that's a consolation. On the other hand, Tiah is through, thank God!
21:09 InTENsity and Lakoda Rayne find out their fates next. Besides having an awful name, Lakoda Rayne need to go home. Unfortunately, we'll have to suffer with them because they're through. Luckily, it's just as good news for InTENsity, who will also be in the live shows.
20:59 Longtime favourite Chris Rene is up next and I think there'll be a massive uproar if he doesn't make it. LA is a little apprehensive about his past "struggles" with drugs and alcohol, but Chris has stayed clean. Pomp and circumstance aside, Chris has made it through! Big surprise there, right? Well deserved.
20:54 The next Over 30s hoping to hear a yes from Nicole are Tiger Budbill and LeRoy Bell. Nicole thinks that LeRoy has a "really beautiful voice", and was "blown away" by Tiger and his growth throughout this process. It's a 'no' for Tiger and he's sent home. However, LeRoy's news is a bit better - he's made it through to live shows.
20:51 Back over at Simon's, Jazzlyn Little is nervous to hear her fate. To be fair, she's been nervous about every aspect of this competition, but I'd say this is warranted. Simon says that he loved her "grit" upon seeing her but feels as though she's become too polished. He sends her home, unfortunately - a true shame, cos I really did like her.
20:44 Skyelor Anderson, Nick Voss, Brennin Hunt and Phillip Lomax are ready to hear whether it's good or bad news. I'd be fine if it was bad news for the lot of them, but of course that's not how it goes. Nick (Morrissey Jr, as I've come to refer to him), Skyelor and Brennin are sent packing. Unfortunately, that means Phillip (Bruno Mars lite) is going through to the live shows.
20:40 Next up, Brian Bradley goes in front of LA Reid to hear whether he'll make it to live shows. LA admits it was "difficult" but says that Brian is a "champion" and is on his team - no surprises there. He definitely has the talent necessary to be a great contestant... so long as he tones that ego down.
20:35 Up next are 4Shore, who I actually really like. I'm assuming we'll be seeing them on the live shows. Paula is "in awe" of their vocal ability and declares them to be technically the "most beautiful sounding" group in the category. Still, she wants to see them pick someone as the lead vocalist. All of that said, I kind of assumed her to say that they were moving on, but instead, they're sent home! Bye bye, 4Shore!
20:31 2Squar'd, The Brewer Boys and Illusion/Confusion are the first of the groups to learn Paula's decision. Illusion/Confusion are the first to go, as they really disappointed Paula during their Judges' Houses performance. Same goes for 2Squar'd. This means, of course, that the Brewer Boys have gone through... Okay, whatever.
20:22 Christa Collins, Dexter Haygood and James Kenney are the next to hear their fates. I'm not fond of any of them, so I don't really care either way, but Nicole has made her decision. She gives them each the whole rigmarole about what she likes and her reservations, but eventually gets down to business. Christa is out, as is James. WHAT? That means Dexter will be in the live shows, which is absolutely criminal.
20:18 Over in Malibu, we're with Nicole, who's about to reveal her first results. It's Josh Krajcik up first, and if he doesn't get through, I'll probably cry myself to sleep. Just kidding. (Or am I?) He's the best in his category, hands down. Nicole loves that he has so much soul but wonders if he can be a superstar. Luckily, she's smart enough to have chosen to bring him through. We'll see Josh during the live shows!
20:13 14-year-old Drew Ryniewicz is the next to go before Simon and after her amazing Judges' Houses performance, I'd be absolutely shocked if she didn't make it through. Simon has seen an improvement in her and says that she couldn't have done any more. However, he's got this devilish grin on his face, and he then reveals that she's in his final four! Go on, Drew!
20:09 Simon thinks that Tora is current, but that there's a lot of talent in her category while Simone is great but forgets her lyrics. Tora's out and is understandably devastated - as am I, because I loved her! That means, of course, that Simone will be on the live shows.
20:06 We're with Simon first, and Simone Battle and Tora Woloshin are the first to face Simon and hear their fates. Assuming only one gets through, I sure hope it's Tora.
20:04 We're doing a bit of a recap here of the Judges' Houses performances, just in case you forgot. I haven't forgotten. Give us the goods!
20:00 And we're off! Will your favourites get through? I know who I'm pulling for... let's hope the judges make the right decision!
