The Top 17 contestants took to the stage on Tuesday for the first live performance show of the season.
Following the performance, judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, LA Reid and Nicole Scherzinger were each required to eliminate one of his or her four acts from the competition and move ahead with only three.
From the Boys category, Reid chose Brian 'Astro' Bradley, Chris Rene and Marcus Canty to move forward, forcing Phillip Lomax out of the competition.

The Over 30s category saw Stacy Francis, LeRoy Bell and Josh Krajcik proceed, while soul singer Dexter Haygood came up short and exited the contest.
Abdul struggled to narrow down the Groups category, eventually choosing to spare The Stereo Hogzz, InTENsity and Lakoda Rayne and sending The Brewer Boys home.
Cowell's Girls category contained five singers, meaning two acts would have to leave. After picking Rachel Crow, Drew Ryniewicz and Melanie Amaro to go through, Simone Battle and Tiah Tolliver left the competition.
The X Factor USA continues next Wednesday (November 2) at 8/7c on Fox, when viewer voting will open for the first time.
