Abdul initially refused to choose between her two groups when they landed in the bottom two on the Top 11 results show, but eventually opted to send Lakoda Rayne home in order to even out the voting after LA Reid and Nicole Scherzinger had already voted to axe Stereo Hogzz.
In the end, however, it was Stereo Hogzz who were sent home from the competition with a third vote from Simon Cowell.
Speaking to the official website after the show, group member Trace said: "I actually didn't even want Paula to make a decision. It was all good, especially when Simon said 'don't make her do that' and he already knew what his answer was and his decision would be the final decision regardless.
"I didn't want her to do that but in the end she still picked us and I love her more for that than I already did."
As for their future following The X Factor, he said: "We're not going to stop grinding. We're going to keep it going."

X Factor's Top 11 had performed songs from the movies on Wednesday night's live show, with Stereo Hogzz and Lakoda Rayne landing in the bottom two after polling the fewest number of public votes.
Stereo Hogzz chose to sing Michael Jackson's 'You Are Not Alone' for their survival song, while Lakoda Rayne opted for 'No Air' by Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown.

Abdul later took to her Twitter account to say it had been a "tough night" for all four judges, saying that it was always "painful" to send anybody home, particularly an act that she had grown close to on the show.
In a message to Stereo Hogzz, she said: "This has been a stepping stone that will change your lives forever... it's been an honour & a privilege to help clear your path so you can now get the attention you so rightfully deserve! xoP (sic)"
X Factor continues Wednesday at 8/7c on Fox.
