Finalists Melanie Amaro, Josh Krajcik and Chris Rene performed twice during Wednesday night's broadcast, with each duetting with R Kelly, Alanis Morissette and Avril Lavigne respectively.
Show boss and judge Simon Cowell recently hinted that he has "a few tricks up his sleeves" for The X Factor USA, adding that the show will undergo changes for next season.
The X Factor USA opened online auditions for its second season earlier this month.
