Simon Cowell is still searching for a new presenter after season one's Steve Jones was axed.
"I think Simon Cowell should ring me up. I'll be the new host, no problem," Murs told the Daily Star.
"I had a great time when I did it in the UK. I bet they're going to get an American, someone like Ryan Seacrest.
"He'll warm the audience up for me to come over and do it. I'm trying to forge a career in America."
Murs is expected to return as co-host of The Xtra Factor this year but will miss most of the auditions stage of the competition as he tours the US with One Direction.
The Wanted, JLS and McFly were recently tipped as stand-ins to help Caroline Flack, who has confirmed her return to the ITV2 show.
Britney Spears and Demi Lovato will join Simon Cowell and LA Reid as judges on season two of The X Factor USA.
