Arin Ray and Beatrice Miller said their goodbyes on Thursday night's (November 22) results show, following the week's Thanksgiving-themed performances.
Former InTENsity singer Ray finished bottom of the public vote and was immediately eliminated, while Miller and CeCe Frey entered the sing-off.
Frey performed Kelly Clarkson's 'Because of You', while a tearful Miller - who had been struggling with a heavy cold which affected her vocal quality - sung Dido's 'White Flag'.
Simon Cowell made the casting vote, saying that he was concerned the experience was proving to be "too much" for Miller, and that he was sending her home, saying: "I don't think this is the right time for you now... I'm going to send you home."
Miller's mentor Britney Spears told the 13-year-old: "Sweetheart, you are so young, and you have so far to go. You're a true star in my eyes, and always will be."
Carly Rose Sonenclar topped this week's public vote ahead of second-placed Tate Stevens, who hugged her as the result was announced and said "Good job, good job!"
This week's special musical guest was former X Factor UK semi-finalist Cher Lloyd, who performed new single 'Oath'.
Hosts Mario Lopez and Khloe Kardashian also confirmed the exclusive world premiere of Spears's new video for 'Scream and Shout', her collaboration with will.i.am, will take place on next Wednesday's show (November 28).
The finalists were also seen joining forces with Best Buy to upgrade the music room at Bancroft Middle School from bare bones facilities to a professional standard.
The school's choir were invited on the show to sing a rendition of Coldplay's 'Fix You' with the contestants.
The X Factor USA airs on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8/7c on Fox.
