'X Factor' USA will miss LA Reid, says Tate Stevens

The X Factor USA winner Tate Stevens has suggested that the Fox series will struggle to replace departing judge LA Reid.

Reid announced his departure from the show prior to Stevens winning The X Factor's $5 million (£3.1 million) grand prize during last week's finale.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Stevens jokingly offered himself up as a candidate for the Fox show's judging panel.

"He's LA Reid - I don't know how they're gonna replace him. But I'm sure they'll find someone good," he said.

The singer continued: "I kinda mentioned, 'You know, if this whole singing thing doesn't work out, I'll take your place'. He just laughed."

Stevens went on to suggest that he has tremendous respect for Reid and fellow judges Simon Cowell, Britney Spears and Demi Lovato.

"I appreciated all of them," he recalled. "They're all people in the business, and they've been there. I think my favourite comment came from Simon a few weeks ago when he said, 'You're an honest and good man and you deserve a break'. To me that was very, very cool. That felt good."

Reid commented on his X Factor exit last week, revealing that he simply feels it is time to focus on his label Epic Records.

The X Factor airs its third season in 2013.
