By
Aired Thursday, Dec 19 2013 at 23:32 GMT on

After last night's memorable final performance by our Top 3 contestants - Carlito Olivero, Alex & Sierra and Jeff Gutt - it was left in America's hands to decide who would be crowned this year's winner. While it might seem there's no clear frontrunner, one thing's for sure: someone is going home with a million dollar recording contract tonight. Who will it be? Join Digital Spy live from 8/7c to find out!

Who will win season 3 of The X Factor USA? Alex & Sierra, Carlito or Jeff?

21:56 So that's it for The X Factor! See you next season!

21:56 I kinda figured that was going to happen, actually. Simon feels like Christmas has come early and gives Jeff his condolences on, you know, losing. Alex & Sierra are speechless... for all the sobbing Sierra's done, she's not shedding a single tear after winning, which is a bit weird. Whatever, at least we've got a result!

21:54 Alex & Sierra are the winners!

21:53 Right, it's about time for the whole point of the show: we're finding out the winner. Stay tuned...

21:48 We're going to find out who won this thing soon, I promise, but One Direction are here first! Shush up and listen to them sing 'Midnight Memories', which apparently may spawn a lawsuit for ripping off Def Leopard's 'Pour Some Sugar On Me'. I can certainly hear the similarities!

21:36 Now it's time for the finalists - Alex & Sierra and Jeff Gutt - to sing together for the very last time. They're doing 'Love Me Again' by John Newman, which I'm realising is a thing in the US now. It's a good song, for sure.

21:35 Hey guys, in case you forgot, Simon is going to be a father! The reminder gets a pretty lukewarm cheer from the audience, who might feel as weird as I do about cheering for a man who knocked up his friend's wife. Anyway, that's all a lead up to some weird video with kids telling Simon how he needs to be nice for Santa as they watch him give negative feedback to contestants.

21:27 Now we're just watching Pitbull sing that awful 'Timber' song that he does with Ke$ha. Ke$ha isn't there or anything, but they do show her on big fancy screens. Pitbull as a famous person really cracks me up. He's just this non-descript whatever dude that's got (in my opinion) the appeal of a wet napkin, but here he is, a massive star with tons of hits. Life's funny that way, I suppose.

21:24 Since we've got 35 more minutes to fill and roughly 10 minutes of programming, we're now checking out a video of some of those "behind-the-scenes" moments from auditions on through. Also, 'Nothing Is Gonna Stop Us Now' is the music playing over this little featurette, which makes it totally worth it.

21:18 Side note: Is Leona Lewis LIP SYNCING? Yep, definitely is. What's the point, then? Get out of here, Leona Lewis. How dare you!

21:16 Wait, who have we got now? Oh right, Leona Lewis is back again to sing 'One More Sleep', which is her new HOLIDAY single. It even has carol bells! Hear that, Lea Michele? (Also, why are we still trying to make Leona Lewis happen? 'Bleeding Love' was like, six years ago).

21:14 Can I just say that Mario asks Jeff what it would mean to him to win, and Jeff answers that he has to win, he has no other choice because he needs the money for his son, who wants to be a doctor and he's just a "gigging musician" and doesn't make enough money. Keep in mind that Jeff's son is about six right now. Also, that no one is forcing him to be a gigging musician rather than applying for a job that's financially profitable.

21:04 Now it's time for a result. We're about to find out who's leaving in third place. That person is... Carlito Olivero. Oh snap, I thought he would've been in the final two.

20:59 No shade on Leah's voice, though - the girl has some pipes on her and she's actually singing live. Perfect pitch.

20:57 Lea Michele is here now, and instead of singing a Christmas song like everyone else, she's gotta perform her debut single, 'Cannonball'. PS, I wish I was a fly on the wall of the brainstorming session that led to the first idea of something that is light and airy being a cannonball. Also, not buying Lea Michele as some sexy and sophisticated pop star. Sorry, it'll never happen.

20:50 I gotta say, Sierra's tears are REALLY over the top. She's sobbing like the love of her life just died over these videos. Some mood stabilizers wouldn't go awry, maybe?

20:48 By the way, back in Alex & Sierra's hometown, everyone loves them and adores them and thinks they're the winners because they're so wonderful together and everyone's crying and what's even happening anymore?

20:44 Now let's see what Alex & Sierra have in store for us. Oh man, they're doing 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' - a cutesy acoustic version that's a bit twee for my tastes, but it's such a good song that literally no version, no matter how butchered it might be, is amazing. Plus, this is the song I wanted to hear so they get my vote.

20:42 By the way, we get to see how positively Jeff has affected his community back home. Also, while mostly everyone has sweet recollections of his musical past, someone (didn't catch who he was in relation to Jeff) instead reminisces about when he used to be a wrestler and his head got slammed against the mat and he went all loopy but kept fighting. I get the analogy, but uh... bit dark, bro.

20:37 Jeff Gutt gets to do his Christmas song now, and he's chosen 'O Holy Night'. I mean, it's a nice song, but I kinda wish he'd have kept it upbeat. He sounds okay, though.

20:36 Now let's appreciate Kelly and the fact that she apparently gets super excited about things, particularly hot men (despite the fact that she's recently engaged). Ladies can't get enough of hot dudes - who can blame her?

20:29 Hey, look who it is! It's Mary J Blige singing 'Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer'! These two things are so starkly different, it seems as a combination of them would be an absolute disaster, and make no mistake, it is - but I love it. It's bizarrely catchy, since she's turned it into a '20s jazzy-style number and it's just really making me want to go see Santa or something. Just go with it, I'm in the holiday spirit!

20:20 Wait, this is actually a nice thing that's happening - the finalists all got to go back to their hometown with the help of Honda (product placement!) to help those in need in their community. Can't hate on that. Carlito went back to Chicago and is making a lot of people really proud of him. That's sweet!

20:17 Someone has to do 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' tonight, right?

Carlito gets festive on The X Factor USA live final results show

20:17 Carlito has one last chance to perform and he's singing a nice Christmas song - 'Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)'. I love this song, and you know what, since this is the final night of the show, I don't even have anything bad to say about Carlito's sub-par vocals. He's having fun and 'tis the season to be jolly and all that, so great job, Carlito!

20:15 The Top 3 are backstage and they're all nervous, as you'd imagine. After asking them how they feel, we're then treated to a clip show of Paulina and all the super funny things she says because, tee hee, she has an accent and English isn't her first language! I know, I know, it's all in good fun. I just like to wind you all up.

20:09 "I just want to get to the end as quickly as possible," Simon says when asked by Mario how he's feeling. That makes two of us.

20:06 First up tonight, we've got to have the Top 13 back to sing together - they're doing U2's 'One'. It's funny how few of these people I actually remember.

20:03 Lea Michele, One Direction, Pitbull, Mary J Blige and someone else I can't remember (because literally, there are so many performers, WHY?) are all going to be taking to the stage tonight, and the finalists will probably sing again and literally the only "good" part of this broadcast will be the last five minutes. I need to go make a cup of tea to wake up.

20:00 Well, here we are! We've got a two-hour finale event ahead of us, so like yesterday, I hope you've got some snacks. At the end of this, we'll have a winner and a bit of a break before the next season of this "entertainment" show returns, so let's just try and enjoy ourselves, eh?
