'The Voice' Jamar Rogers: Cee Lo is reason I sing the way I do - video

By
The Voice contestant Jamar Rogers has revealed his excitement at joining Cee Lo Green's team.

The singer from Brooklyn, New York won his idol's support following his blind audition performance of 'Seven Nation Army' by the White Stripes on Monday night (February 6).

Cee Lo was the only mentor to press his button during the performance, prompting Jamar to reveal that he has been a fan of the singer since long before Gnarls Barkley.

"I'm a hardcore fan and you're the reason I auditioned for this show," he explained.

Speaking to social media correspondent Christina Milian afterwards, a visibly excited Jamar said: "I got to see my idol. You don't understand what that does to me. He's the reason I sing the way I do, from the soul, man."

He added: "I think we're going all the way. I want him to make my album! Man, remember this face!"

Jamar revealed before his blind audition that he previously battled a drug addiction - and contracted HIV through it - but is now clean and sober and works in the charity sector.

The Voice continues Mondays at 8/7c on NBC.
