Monday night's show saw a surprise "instant elimination" feature added, where both coaches were forced to choose one of their own to be sent home even before the public vote. Aguilera chose 42-year-old Jesse Campbell, a favourite amongst Digital Spy readers, while Shelton relied on past feedback and sent home Jordis Unga.
In order to further narrow the competition, the remaining three members of each team were then subject to the viewer vote, with the bottom two from both Aguilera's and Shelton's groups participating in a final sing-off in order to continue on in the competition.
For Team Christina, Lindsey Pavao and Ashley de la Rosa took to the stage, with the mentor eventually saving Pavao. Shelton struggled to make his decision between country crooner RaeLynn or Erin Willett, finally agreeing to keep the latter in the competition.

The singers continuing on to the semi-finals round thus far in addition to Pavao and Willett are Chris Mann and Jermaine Paul.
Next Monday, contestants from Cee Lo Green's and Adam Levine's teams will face the same fate, with each coach sending home two of their competitors.
