Sean Bean has landed the lead role in HBO's Game of Thrones.

Mark Addy, who has previously starred in Still Standing and Bonkers, is also said to be negotiating a part.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bean will play Lord Eddard 'Ned' Stark, who becomes King Robert's (Addy) closest adviser.

Additionally, Kit Harington has been cast as Jon Snow, the illegitimate son of Bean's character; Harry Lloyd has joined as a powerless ruler who aims to marry his sister off to a powerful king; and Jack Gleeson will play Joffrey, King Robert's son.

Earlier this year, it was announced that Peter Dinklage will play the Queen's brother Tyrion.
