Coldplay drummer Will Champion joins 'Game of Thrones' season three

Coldplay drummer Will Champion is to have a cameo role in Game of Thrones, it has been revealed.

The musician will star in the fantasy drama's third season, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Will Champion, of Coldplay accept the award for song of the year for "Viva La Vida" at the 51st Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009, in Los Angeles.

Few details have been released regarding the appearance, but Champion has reportedly been cast as a drummer in the upcoming run.

Snow Patrol lead singer Gary Lightbody has also been confirmed to appear in the HBO series' third season, although no details have been released on the nature of the role.

Game of Thrones returns to HBO on March 31, 2013 and airs on Sky Atlantic in the UK.
