'Game of Thrones' Peter Dinklage: 'There's less Tyrion in season three'

By
Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage has disclosed that his character Tyrion Lannister will have a reduced role in season three.

The expansion of Game of Thrones' cast in season three to 27 major characters will see some of the series' most popular figures appear less frequently than in the past.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Dinklage admitted that he had no problem working a lighter schedule on the HBO series.

"I don't mind. My character probably minds," Dinklage teased.

He added: "It's still fun, but easier. I've had fewer days shooting. With all the [show's] different storylines, the focus sometimes shifts, which is fine."

Dinklage went on to tease that Tyrion's major arc in the third season will be trying to make the best of being replaced as the Hand of the King by his devious father Tywin (Charles Dance).

"[Tyrion's] a survivor," the actor stressed. "He crawls his way back, to a certain extent. But that's what's fun about this character.

"He'll make the best out of every situation no matter what position he's put in."

Charles Dance recently revealed that he frequently apologises to Dinklage after filming a scene because of Tywin's cruel behaviour.

Game of Thrones returns for its third season on Sunday, March 31 on HBO in the US. It premieres in the UK on April 1 on Sky Atlantic.
