The actress, who recently cameoed in the seventh season episode 'Threat Level Midnight', told Time Out New York that she's prepared to accept that her latest guest spot could have been her final appearance on the sitcom.
"That's probably it," Jones said. "I don't know [if I'll be back]."
She continued: "It was a total surprise to me when they called me to do that [cameo]. I was delighted, but shocked... But who knows [if Karen will return]? As long as everybody's open to it."
Jones further explained that she's happy that fans of the sitcom are able to distinguish Karen from her Parks and Recreation character Ann Perkins.
"It's nice because nobody seems to really talk about any crossover of Ann and Karen, and that makes me really happy," she added. "Because I'm such a method actor…and all my parts are so different that people totally didn't realise I was on two shows in a row. That's actually why I cut my hair after The Office. I was like, 'Let me try something to distinguish myself'."
The actress first appeared as Karen Filippelli in the season three premiere 'Gay Witch Hunt' as a love interest for Jim Halpert (John Krasinski). Jones left the series at the end of the season after Jim and Karen ended their on-screen relationship.
The Office returns with new episode 'Garage Sale' on March 24 on NBC.
