NBC unveils 2011-2012 premiere dates

NBC has revealed the premiere dates for its 2011 fall season.

Parenthood, The Office and Parks and Recreation will return in mid to late September, while new series such as Up All Night, Free Agents and the US version of Prime Suspect have received premiere dates as well.

American football starts on Thursday, September 8 with the NFL Kickoff Special 2011 at 8pm, followed by Sunday Night Football from 8.30pm to 11pm. On Sunday, September 11, the pregame show Football Night in America returns at 7pm, with Sunday Night Football on from 8.30pm to 11pm.

Tuesday, September 13 sees the return of the Peter Krause and Lauren Graham series Parenthood at 10pm.

Meanwhile, Wednesday, September 14 starts with the two-hour season finale of America's Got Talent at 8pm, followed by the premiere of two new comedy series, Up All Night and Free Agents, at 10pm and 10.30pm respectively. Up All Night stars Will Arnett and Christina Applegate as two parents who struggle to balance their lives with a new baby, while Free Agents follows two public relations executives who try to keep their sexual trysts a secret from their co-workers.

Monday, September 19 sees the return of the a cappella musical competition The Sing Off at 8pm, followed by the series premiere of The Playboy Club at 10pm. Set in the '60s, The Playboy Club centers around the Bunnies of the first Playboy Club in Chicago.

The Biggest Loser kicks off a new season on Tuesday, September 20 at 8pm.

Wednesday, September 21 sees the timeslot premiere of Up All Night and Free Agents, which air at 8pm and 8.30pm respectively. Harry's Law returns for a second season at 9pm, followed by the 13th season of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit at 10pm.

On Thursday, September 22, Community begins its third season at 8pm, with Parks and Recreation at 8.30pm and the eighth season of The Office at 9pm, featuring James Spader as the new CEO of Dunder Mifflin's parent company.

Two new shows premiere that Thursday as well, starting with Whitney at 9.30pm. Based on the life of comedian Whitney Cummings, Whitney follows the titular character as she tries to keep her five-year relationship with her boyfriend intact. Meanwhile, the US version of Prime Suspect debuts at 10pm. Starring Maria Bello in the role made famous by Helen Mirren, the series tells the story of the strong-willed but troubled Detective Jane Tennyson.

The news-based show Dateline NBC is the last show to return in September, premiering on Friday, September 23.

Friday, October 21 sees the premiere of the spy series Chuck at 8pm, followed by the new fantasy crime series Grimm at 9pm.
