The Kelly Kapoor actress exited The Office in the season nine premiere in order to focus on her own Fox series The Mindy Kaling Project.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Kaling hinted that Office viewers might not have seen the last of the ditzy Kelly.
"I will do anything for [Office executive producer] Greg Daniels," she said. "And if he wanted me to be in another couple episodes, if it was possible given my current schedule, I would do anything to make that possible. I love that group of people."
Kaling also admitted that it was very difficult for her to leave The Office due to her close friendships with the show's cast and crew.
"I was nervous, leaving a show after eight years, having to say goodbye to my friends and the people that made it feel like a comfy place and a hit show," she explained. "So I took the ones that I thought were available and I had great relationships with to come with me.
"They were people like BJ Novak, who was an executive producer on the pilot, and Ed Helms, who plays a love interest of mine. There's a lot of crossover, so it felt seamless."
The Office airs Thursdays at 9/8c on NBC.
