The Office comes to an end in the spring of 2013 after nine critically-acclaimed seasons on NBC.
Krasinski - who plays Jim Halpert on the sitcom - has now hinted to The Insider that The Office's fake documentary crew will play a key role in the final episode.
"We have a really rare opportunity," he explained. "We are not only bringing an end to a show that's been going for a long time, but bringing an end to a show that's been filmed by a fake documentary crew."
The actor added: "So, to play with characters who think they're really on camera is going to be fun to break down."
Krasinski has previously admitted that he is highly emotional about the approaching end to The Office.
"I'm unbelievably proud to be a part of one that actually gets to end," he said in October. "Instead of being asked to leave, I actually get a shot at bringing the whole story and all the characters to a close."
The Office airs Thursdays at 9/8c on NBC.
