The Sopranos writer and producer agreed a seven-figure deal with Lionsgate TV, which includes continuing his work as showrunner on the award-winning drama.
He is also signed up to potentially work on a movie, but according to Lionsgate TV president Kevin Beggs, it will not be related to Mad Men.
"It's been a long road to try to make this deal, but between the support of AMC and the creative deal-making of [Lionsgate TV COO] Sandra Stern, we found a way to cobble together a package that was attractive to Matthew and made sense for us," said Beggs.
It was confirmed earlier this month that the show, which chronicles the lives of advertising executives at fictional agency Sterling Cooper in the 1960s, would return for a third series in the summer.
Speaking about his continuing work on the show, Weiner said: "I am proud to work so closely with these two companies who love taking risks and value creativity, and I am thrilled to get back to work with the most talented cast and crew in the business."
AMC's president Charlie Collier would not confirm whether Weiner's deal meant a fourth series was secure, but commented: "We fully expect to have Mad Men on for a long time."
