'Mad Men' star Elisabeth Moss: 'Peggy Olson has changed so much'

By
Elisabeth Moss has said she's amazed by how her Mad Men character Peggy Olson has grown over the past five seasons.

Moss reflected on Peggy's journey from timid secretary to Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce's lead copywriter in a new interview with AMCtv.com.

"I've known Peggy for six years. What's great about that is when I started out I was 23 and now I'm 29, so I've changed a lot in six years," the star recalled.

"So the sort of melding and blending of you changing and you growing up and the character changing and melding and growing is not an opportunity that you always get."

She further explained: "We've never made [Peggy] really different from season to season or been like, oh, now she's wearing pantsuits and bossing everyone around. I think she's changed enormously in the past five seasons. But it's also been very realistic."

Moss also revealed that she has commiserated with Mad Men co-star January Jones because both have famously donned fat suits for the series.

"I think she might have taken the trump card a little bit," Moss joked. "She was dealing with actually being pregnant, not just faking it. We definitely laughed a little bit."

Moss recently admitted that it's always very difficult for her to keep Mad Men's storylines a secret.

Mad Men airs on AMC in the US and Sky Atlantic in the UK.
