Entertainment president Kevin Reilly revealed to reporters at the Television Critics Association press tour that the network will preview the first episode of the show in May, with the remainder of the season following in the autumn.
"It was mainly due to the scope [Terra Nova] was going to take," he explained. "We went into it knowing it was going to be ambitious. It really became apparent that we had to do this show right. We'll have an enormous jump on the pilot, and on the marketing side, we'll let people understand the show."
The series will star Jason O'Mara as Jim Shannon, head of a family who become stranded in prehistoric times. Producers are reportedly debating whether to film the programme in Australia or Florida.
The show's panel at this year's Comic-Con was cancelled since no footage was available.
