According to the New York Post, Fox are to show a special two-hour episode of Terra Nova, in a similar move to their launch of Glee in 2009.
Terra Nova follows a family from a post-apocalyptic future who travel back in time to the prehistoric age in an attempt to save the earth.
The show is executive produced by Spielberg, with an expected budget of $4 million per episode.
A number of cast members for the series have already been announced, including Life On Mars star Jason O'Mara, Avatar villain Stephen Lang and Kings actress Allison Miller.
