Bryan Cranston is in talks to direct a forthcoming episode of Modern Family.

Cranston is nearing a deal with the ABC sitcom, reports TV Line.

Cranston stars in AMC's Breaking Bad as a high school chemistry teacher, who starts making and selling crystal meth to ensure his family's financial security when he dies from terminal lung cancer.

The actor has directed two episodes of the AMC drama series, and also directed seven episodes of his former sitcom Malcolm in the Middle when it aired from 2000 to 2006 on Fox.

Cranston was previously reported to be lending his voice as Commander Drake to the two-part finale of FX animated comedy Archer.

He will also voice a character in Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted.
