The 56-year-old actor has played the science teacher turned meth kingpin on the AMC drama series for five seasons.
He told Zap2it that he doesn't like to know what is in store for his troubled character because it affects his performance.
"I don't ask. I started to get the outlines back in season one, and then I realised that this journey that Walt is on is a switchback," Cranston explained.
"It didn't help me as an actor, because I would read two or three or four outlines down the road, and I would learn some information that could only discolour my performance in the episode I was currently shooting."
The new season of Breaking Bad airs Sundays on AMC in the US.
