'Breaking Bad' to get Saul Goodman comedy spinoff?

By
Breaking Bad could receive a spinoff series centred around criminal lawyer Saul Goodman.

The AMC show, which will end after its sixth season airs this summer, could be granted a standalone series due to its vast popularity.

According to Deadline, the potential spinoff is being lined up as a comedy due to Saul star Bob Odenkirk's "strong background" in the genre, and the fact that he is largely Breaking Bad's comic relief.

Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan and writer/producer Peter Gould are said to be working on the new show to continue the success of the franchise. However, no firm deals are currently in place.

It has been suggested that the show could be in either one-hour or 30-minute instalments.

The final batch of Breaking Bad episodes will air on AMC in the US this summer.
