According to The Hollywood Reporter, the size of the order is still being determined.
The drama pilot, co-written by The Wire creator David Simon, stars Wendell Pierce, Clarke Peters and Steve Zahn as survivors of Hurricane Katrina. The show takes place in the aftermath of the storm and shows the rebuilding of New Orleans from the perspective of local musicians.
"It's basically a post-Katrina history of the city. It will be rooted in events that everybody knows," Simon said. "This is not a Wire redo with a New Orleans soundtrack - it's more of a character study looking at people trying to reconstruct their lives after their city has been destroyed."
The series will continue to be filmed in the Crescent City, where the pilot was shot.
