The former ER star signed on to play defence attorney Alicia Florrick on the new CBS programme in March.
Her character is married to a politician (Noth) who becomes embroiled in a sex and corruption scandal, which called for the Emmy winner to strike the Sex And The City actor for real.
She told TV Guide: "There was no other way to do it. And Chris Noth is so great. He's like, 'Oh please, I've been hit so many times'."
The Good Wife premieres tonight on CBS.
