King explained that the couple, played by Julianna Margulies and Josh Charles, may struggle to move on from their sexual relationship.
"What we wanted to explore is after you have such an intimate sexual relationship, how difficult is it to become friends again?" King told TV Line.
"I think the problem is the sex was so good between them it's hard to ignore. We're going to explore how difficult it is to deal with the absence of sex in the relationship."
King also warned fans not to expect Cary (Matt Czuchry) and Kalinda (Archie Panjabi) to get together, saying: "In many ways, Cary feels very hurt by the fact that Kalinda pushed [for something to happen] and then pulled back.
"Is there enough sense for them to give another go of it? That I don't have an answer for."
Nadia Dajani recently signed up for a role in The Good Wife, which airs on Sundays at 9/8c on CBS in the US and on Thursdays at 9pm on More 4 in the UK.
