'Person of Interest' pips 'Grey's Anatomy' in demos for first time

Person of Interest achieved its first ever total victory over Grey's Anatomy in the ratings last night.

The Jim Caviezel serial, which has been challenging Anatomy in the past few months, pulled in 13.5m (2.9) for CBS against the ABC show's 8.1m (2.8).

The Big Bang Theory (13m/4.2) beat American Idol between 8pm and 8.30pm, but Idol averaged 13.8m (3.8) across the hour.

After last week's solid return, Rules of Engagement held up reasonably well with 8.8m (2.7) at 8.30pm.

Meanwhile, Fox's Touch slipped to 7.5m (2.3) in the 9pm hour.

Kerry Washington's new political drama Scandal premiered with 7.5m (2.1) for ABC at 10pm, while Missing recorded a season low of 7.2m (1.4) at 8pm.

With viewing across the board down week-on-week, NBC was hit the hardest, with series lows for its entire lineup: Community (3.1m/1.3), 30 Rock (2.8m/1.2), Up All Night (2.6m/1.1) and Awake (2.5m/0.9).

The CW's Vampire Diaries (1.1m/0.4) and Secret Circle (820k/0.4) were repeats.
