At the Emmy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday, the 44-year-old is said to have told friends that he has had a "good run" on the CBS sitcom. He plans to quit the series after this season when his current contract expires, Buddy TV reports.
"I've got five kids, I've got an amazing wife. There is life outside of show business. It's been a great run. This is my last contract year," Sheen is reported as saying.
His Men co-star Jon Cryer picked up a trophy for outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series at the ceremony. Sheen has been nominated in the lead actor category for his role of Charlie Harper, but has never won an Emmy for his work on the programme.
It was reported earlier that Sheen is the highest-paid actor on US TV for the second year in a row, netting $860,000 (£520,000) per episode on the sitcom on which he also serves as a co-producer.
