Characters Alan (Jon Cryer) and Jake (Angus T Jones) will learn of Charlie Harper's death in the premiere episode, reports TMZ, in order to guarantee that Sheen will not be able to return in the future.
Sheen was fired from Two and a Half Men in March, following a high profile spat with the show's creator Chuck Lorre.
The new season starts filming on August 5, with producers reportedly deciding on a number of scenarios for Harper's death, including him driving his car off a cliff.
Sources close to production told the website that Ashton Kutcher's new character will possibly buy Harper's house following his death.
Recent reports suggested that Harper would not die, and that his last scenes showing him leave for the airport with his stalker Rose would explain his absence.
