Some fans have complained about the season one closer, which failed to resolve the mystery of Rosie Larsen's murder.
Ladin has now joked that his character Jamie was responsible for the killing.
"Well, I could just tell you right here [that Jamie killed Rosie] and just finish this thing," he quipped in an interview with E! Online. "What do you say? We won't even go onto season two."
Ladin added that he was taken aback by the anger that greeted the finale from some viewers of the show.
"I was a little surprised with how much real venom was spewed about the finale," he said. "But at the same time I love the controversy. I think only a show that brings out the passion that this show brings out could bring that sort of controversy in people talking about it and the anger. I was thrilled with it."
The Killing's executive producer Veena Sud has also defended the season one finale, adding that some people "championed" the ending.
The Killing has already been renewed for a second season by AMC.
