The six-part series - hosted by Harrison and Melissa Rycroft - will see former Bachelor and Bachelorette contestants living together in a bid to find love and win a cash prize.
Speaking to Access Hollywood's Billy Bush, the host said: "It's not really a wine show, it's more of a margarita show. It's late summer, don't think too hard, fun television."
He added that former Bachelor star Jake Pavelka - who split from fiancee Vienna Girardi last month and was seen filming at the Bachelor Pad house recently - is "involved in a very small way" and is not a castmember.
The network revealed the 19 former contestants who will be appearing on the show last month, describing them as "fan favourites, arch-rivals, villains and sexiest participants".
Bachelor Pad premieres August 9 on ABC.
