The ABC drama, which premiered last night, stars VanCamp as a young woman called Emily who moves to the Hamptons to get revenge on the people who destroyed her family.
"At the end of the day, Revenge is a moral discussion," VanCamp told TV Line. "Emily is quite justified in what she's doing - these people stole everything from her."
VanCamp also revealed that Emily is "relentless" and claimed that the show will be "intense", adding: "People can definitely expect to be really satisfied."
Meanwhile, the series' executive producer Mike Kelley explained that Emily will exact revenge on various different people, while VanCamp described each moment of payback as "juicy and fun and exciting, really crafty and clever".
"In the first handful of episodes, each week we're taking down a character who wronged Emily's father - your weekly revenge fix, if you will," Kelley said. "Then we'll slowly make them larger arcs because we don't want to burn through them too quickly."
Revenge airs on Wednesdays at 10/9c on ABC.
