The actress - who recently won her second-straight Golden Globe - explained recently that she would ultimately like Carrie to find peace away from her CIA work and start a family.

"Well, I think it would be interesting to see her become a mom. I'm not just saying that because I am one, but maybe I am," she joked, reports Parade. "I am very myopic right now. Now I want all of my friends to become moms. I am really bossy about it."
She continued: "So I think I just want Carrie to become a mom because I can't imagine any other reality now and I want everybody to join in on the fun. That would be interesting because it's so antithetical for who she is. But who knows? The writers are much better at this than I am."

Danes also admitted that she sees very little of herself in Mathison, whose battle with bipolar disorder has remained a running storyline on Homeland.
"[There's] not a whole lot [in common], to be honest," she said. "I mean, I guess a kind of focus or intensity. Hers is at a much higher volume, thank goodness, than my own."
