The singer, actress and designer will mentor alongside Nicole Richie and John Varvatos in the Elle Macpherson-produced competition, which sees 14 designers hoping to land a multi-million dollar prize to launch their designs at one of America's top retailers.
Speaking to Nick Cannon at Sunday's (February 5) Super Bowl, the star said: "It's unlike any fashion show you have ever seen because you actually get to buy the clothes you see on the runway so it's a great shopping show for all you ladies out there!"
Simpson added: "There's 14 different designers who are all really, really great and they're basically competing for a $6 million prize at the end. There are buyers from H&M, Saks Fifth Avenue and Macy's and they will be putting [the designs] in the stores the night after the show airs."

Simpson, who is currently pregnant with her first child, previously described her Fashion Star role as a "dream come true".
"To work with these designers one on one and bring out the best in them is a dream come true for me. I'm here to make people believe in themselves or if they're a little too confident, bring them down a bit!" she said.
"I just want to be able to give them the best advice that I have."
