The British actor will make an appearance in an upcoming episode of the long-running Fox comedy, but has said he is hoping for a return.
He also joked that he would like to appear in an episode with Stephen Hawking, whom he has been friends with since playing him in a 2004 TV drama.
"I think if The Simpsons had anything to do with it, then Sherlock and Stephen Hawking would get on really well," he told The Sun.
"Sherlock would probably talk a lot and Stephen would probably cut him down with one brilliant word."
Talking about the next series of the BBC drama, he added: "We start filming the next series of Sherlock in January. I can't say any more."
Simpsons producer Al Jean recently revealed that Cumberbatch "muscled his way in" to getting a role on the show.
Cumberbatch will play a "snake-like character" and the British Prime Minister in the upcoming 24th season episode.
