Larry Hagman death to be written into 'Dallas', C5 plans tribute

Larry Hagman's death will be incorporated into the second season of TNT's Dallas.

The actor, who passed away yesterday (November 23), had resumed his role as JR Ewing in the reboot. Six of the upcoming 15 episodes have already been filmed, with the show due to premiere in the US on January 28.

Meanwhile, Channel 5, which broadcasts the show in the UK, is planning an exclusive 30-minute programme called A Tribute to Larry Hagman: At Home with JR, which will air tomorrow (November 25) at 9pm.

Richard Desmond, Chairman of Channel 5 owner Northern & Shell, said: "I am very sad to hear the news that Larry Hagman has died.

"He was the ultimate professional and a very good guy who I had the privilege of meeting a number of times, most recently when he, Linda and Patrick came to London to help launch Dallas on Channel 5.

"He was very funny and made us all laugh. This is a very sad day for his family, friends and fans."

A Channel 5 statement added: "We were very saddened to hear today's news about Larry Hagman and we send our condolences to his family and friends."

Dallas production company Warner Bros., executive producers Cynthia Cidre and Michael M Robin, and the show's cast and crew have released a joint statement following news of Hagman's death.

"Larry Hagman was a giant, a larger-than-life personality whose iconic performance as JR Ewing will endure as one of the most indelible in entertainment history," they said.

"He truly loved portraying this globally recognised character, and he leaves a legacy of entertainment, generosity and grace. Everyone at Warner Bros. and in the Dallas family is deeply saddened by Larry's passing.

"Our thoughts are with his family and dear friends during this difficult time."
