The second season of Dallas is to feature JR Ewing's funeral.

Larry Hagman - who played the ruthless oil tycoon - passed away last month, with a source for the revamped soap later confirming that JR's absence would be addressed within the show.

Hagman had filmed several Dallas season two episodes prior to his death, with season two's eighth episode now planned to feature JR's funeral, according to TVLine.

The instalment - to air on March 11 on TNT in the US - may feature a number of former Dallas stars, including actors who have not yet featured in the revamped series.

Several members of the Dallas cast paid public tribute to Hagman following his death - Patrick Duffy (Bobby Ewing) called the actor "one of the greatest friends ever to grace my life", while Josh Henderson, who plays JR's son John Ross, called his co-star "an icon and a legend, but also a mentor and a friend".

Dallas season two will premiere on January 28 in the US, with new episodes expected to air on Channel 5 in the UK later in 2013.
