'Dallas' Patrick Duffy blasts reality shows: 'They're eroding good TV'

By
Dallas star Patrick Duffy has taken a swipe at reality TV shows, accusing them of eroding "good scripted television".

The veteran actor, who plays Bobby Ewing in the TNT/Channel 5 soap, said that he hopes the fashion for shows such as X Factor and Keeping Up with the Kardashians will fade away.

"[Reality TV] is eroding the ability of good scripted television to survive," Duffy told the Radio Times.

"Hopefully this arc will abate and we can get back to good TV. It's no longer even reality television; all the people on it seem to be acting for an Academy Award. It's shameless."

When asked whether he prefers X Factor or Dancing with the Stars, Duffy added: "I'd rather read a book."

The revived Dallas returned to screens for its second season in the US and the UK this week.
