Dallas, for nine-tenths of this evening's episode, was all about the Ewings getting "back on top", everyone rallying around the sick and pompous Bobby and all the men of the family realising that they really love each other deep down beneath the fisticuffs, lies, deceit and sleeping with each other's lovers.
Josh Henderson and Jesse Metcalfe took a break from their weekly pout-off as John Ross and Christopher realised that they should play nice and set up business together. How long the pair can remain best buddies probably depends on how long Elena can keep her knickers in just one of the Ewing brothers' bedrooms.
JR returned - which was a huge relief after several weeks of minimal eyebrow action - but even he was in a mood for reconciliation. Moved by his brother Bobby's ill health, he decided to hand over his deeds to Southfork and do the right thing. It was very un-JR and rather unsettling that we got a glimpse of his softer side.
Thankfully we didn't have too long to contemplate the all-new cuddly JR as a montage of dramatic twists, neatly accompanied by Johnny Cash, blasted our expectations about next week's finale.
Bobby has found some evidence that means that he can screw over those pesky Venezuelans. But it will also mean sending his bro JR to jail. The conundrum is enough to send his heart racing and for him to suffer a second seizure of the episode.
Bullying Tommy (Callard Harris) has finally met his match with the menacing pal of Cliff Barnes's right-hand-man Frank (Faran Tahir), who has ended their deal to screw over the Ewings. And as a result, he hit the warpath to take revenge on his fake sister Rebecca. Only in a Dallas world do these sentences and plot developments not sound ridiculous.
Pregnant Rebecca and angry Tommy's head-to-head provided the final twist of the episode as the duo scuffled over a gun in the closing shots. The final image was of two toy chimps (purchased for Rebecca's unborn twins) splattered in blood.
Has Rebecca been killed just when she found happiness? Or did Tommy get a nasty ending? We'll have to wait for a week to find out.
Oh, and if you weren't excited enough already, then why not check out the following teaser for the season finale. It's a gasp-arama.
Dallas's first season concludes next Wednesday at 9pm on Channel 5.
