The modern-day Sherlock Holmes drama - starring Jonny Lee Miller as the detective - will air on Thursdays at 10/9c on CBS this fall.
Hill has won a recurring role as a detective who works alongside Holmes and Joan Watson (Lucy Liu), TVLine reports.
The actor has previously starred in HBO's Eastbound & Down and appeared in episodes of Person of Interest and Law & Order: SVU.
Aidan Quinn (Prime Suspect) will also star in Elementary, which has been compared to the BBC's own contemporary Sherlock Holmes series Sherlock.
The British series's co-creator Steven Moffat previously revealed that CBS had been denied the rights to remake Sherlock before embarking on their own project.
Moffat later criticised the network's conduct, calling it "pretty remarkable behaviour".
"It's tough," he explained. "If [Elementary is] bad, it debases the coinage of our show [or] if it's too like our show, we'll have to take action."
