'Arrow' voted most exciting new CW show by Digital Spy readers
We suspected that this poll would be a pretty close two-horse race between superhero drama Arrow and Sex and the City prequel The Carrie Diaries, so imagine our surprise when Arrow wiped the floor with all of its competitors, pulling in almost half of the total vote (48.1%).
The Carrie Diaries predictably took second place, but could only muster 19.5% - not even half of what Arrow managed. It seems that the appeal of a young Miss Bradshaw - and Doctor Who's Freema Agyeman possibly attempting an American accent - isn't that strong after all.
Coming in a close third was Cult with 17.8% - we've heard mixed things about this thriller series, but it seems that the cult appeal (no pun intended) of its strong cast is enough to peak your interest. Matt Davis (The Vampire Diaries), Robert Knepper (Prison Break) and Alona Tal (Supernatural) star in this mystery drama, which concerns a string of mysterious disappearances that are linked to a television show.
Still pulling in a respectable 11.4% was Beauty and the Beast - this update of the '80s CBS drama stars Smallville's Kristin Kreuk and Terra Nova's Jay Ryan as the titular lovers. Kreuk is a hard-bitten homicide detective, while Ryan is a handsome guy with a facial scar... which, y'know, makes him a beast.
Coming in last was Emily Owens, MD - a medical drama starring Mamie 'daughter of Meryl Streep' Gummer and Justin 'not the Green Arrow anymore' Hartley. But we're going to defend the show's performance; it still managed to attract 3% of the vote, not bad when you consider it isn't based on an established brand - like Arrow, Carrie and Beauty - and that it lacks the knock-out star-studded cast of Cult.
