The Sopranos actress was reportedly asked to join the hit ABC series to fill the void left by Nicolette Sheridan's departure last season, while she is to play the matriarch of an Italian family who move to Wisteria Lane.
Hatcher, who portrays Susan Mayer on the show, said that de Matteo received her unofficial welcome on set filming a scene for the upcoming season, says People.
"We were all covered in powdered sugar and at one point Drea had a lot of powder," she said, promoting the DVD release of her movie Coraline at Comic-Con. "That was her hazing."
However, the 44-year-old star would not divulge which of the Housewives de Matteo will tangle with on screen, adding: "So far it's not set up that it's any one person, and I think it could be Susan, it could be Gaby, it could be Katherine. I'm not sure."
It was recently reported that Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson got into a row over the newest addition to Desperate Housewives.
