The 30-year-old recently signed on to reprise his role as former gardener John Rowland on the ABC series.
His character had an affair with Parker's Gabrielle Solis in the first season, while series creator Marc Cherry said that the upcoming appearance will highlight John as a divorced man.
Parker told E!: "I don't think we'll be seeing him shirtless. You'll be seeing a very different [John] Rowland."
Metcalfe will appear on the third and fourth episodes of the sixth season. It was announced earlier that Andrea Bowen will continue her role as Susan's (Teri Hatcher) daughter Julie Mayer.
Desperate Housewives returns to US TV on Sunday, September 27 on ABC.
