The 37-year-old's alter ego Robin is currently involved in a romance with the sexually-confused Katherine Mayfair, played by Dana Delany.
However, recent reports suggest that Delany may be departing the ABC series to topline a new pilot on the Alphabet network. In addition, Benz has landed a role in superpower drama pilot No Ordinary Family, meaning that the pair could leave at any time.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Benz said that she hopes the pilots mean Robin and Katharine will get a happy ending. "I love the idea that those two may ride off into the sunset together."
Desperate Housewives continues Sundays at 9pm on ABC in the US and Wednesdays at 10pm on Channel 4 in the UK.
