Strong stars in the show as Mary-Alice Young, who committed suicide in the first episode of the series. She provides the voiceover for the episodes and occasionally appears in flashback scenes.
Strong, who recently received an Emmy nomination for 'Outstanding Voiceover Performance', has now teased that she could have a bigger on-screen presence in the upcoming eighth season of Desperate Housewives.
"My presence will be woven in more as a series bookend since we know it's [probably] the final year," she told TV Guide. "Flashbacks will provide some new Young family information that will culminate in an amazing finale."
Recent rumours have suggested that Desperate Housewives could come to an end after the eighth season, depending on the ratings.
The Desperate Housewives stars recently signed new one-year contracts, but the deal includes the option to continue for a ninth season. The show's creator Marc Cherry has previously hinted that he is planning to end the show in 2013.
Desperate Housewives will return for its eighth season on September 25 on ABC.
