Bob Daily told TV Line that he believes an instalment based on the spooky holiday will fit in well with this year's storyline.
"I really want to try to do a final iconic Halloween episode," he said.
"I'd love to devise some chills in the lives of the women because our mystery this year is very dark. So I think Halloween is going to be a time where some of the dark secrets come to the fore."
Desperate Housewives star Felicity Huffman has also described the new mystery as "dark", hinting that it "shifts the ground upon which the women walk".
The show, which will come to an end after its eighth season, will return on September 25 on ABC.
