The series finale of Marc Cherry's ABC comedy drama has been named 'Finishing the Hat', a reference to a song from the Stephen Sondheim musical Sunday in the Park With George.
According to TV Line, the title is in keeping with Cherry's tradition of naming every Housewives episode after a Sondheim lyric or song.
'Finishing the Hat' is scheduled to air on May 13 and will feature the return of past stars Dana Delany (Katherine Mayfair) and Christine Estabrook (Martha Huber).
Teasing the Desperate Housewives series finale this week, Cherry stated: "I want to make sure that we end the show in a very satisfying way for the fans, so the endings for the characters are going to make sense."
He also hinted that Brenda Strong will appear as deceased character Mary Alice Young in the episode, reasoning that her "commentary started the show, and her commentary will end it".
Desperate Housewives returns to ABC on April 29.
